As soon as you drive onto this lovely property, you will instantly feel “on vacation”. Your shoes may be off by the time you pass two of the most unusual pools on the island and they will definitely be off by the time you reach the entrance veranda with its beautiful panoramic view of L’Ansecoy Bay Beach and across the ocean to the nearby islands of Bequia and St. Vincent.

Located on a sheltered hillside, Moana, which is “ocean” in Hawaiian, has a very indoor/outdoor layout that takes advantage of the trade winds and magnificent view. Both the living and dining areas open to a sun deck which runs along the front of the house. At one end is a table and chairs under a pergola. On the other side of the living room is a courtyard garden that has a loggia with a large Indonesian day bed. Privacy was also a design factor and so two air-conditioned bedrooms are at each end of this level and a third optional air-conditioned bedroom is on the lower level.

Stone stairs lead down to the lower level, a sun deck and the upper pool which has built-in seating and is 16’ x 17’ x 4’ deep. From its edge water flows over and down a stone wall into the lower 36’ x 15’ x 8’ deep pool that has a deck off to one side. Both pools are made of the same indigenous stone and have infinity edges facing the sensational view. The effect is like large water steps down to the sea which can actually be reached by a private path. If you’re looking for a true island retreat where shoes are superfluous, Moana is it.
