Coccoloba is an extraordinary hilltop villa on 12 beautifully landscaped acres with dazzling views of 4 bays: L’Ansecoy, Rutland, Lime Kiln and Endeavor. A winding driveway up through a tropical forest brings one to the entrance of this imposing house. Inspired by the legendary Oliver Messel, Coccoloba is built on two levels and is comprised of a series of pavilions. All principal rooms, many with antique flooring from Bali, are large and airy with French doors opening onto breathtaking views.
The hexagonal coral stone foyer, with a centered Balinese fountain, is encircled by arches. Look though any and the visuals are sublime. Ahead is the dining pavilion which is lit only by candles at night. To the right a stone path leads to an expansive wraparound terrace with covered sitting and dining areas and to the living room pavilion. From there a stone path leads to the very private primary bedroom pavilion which even has its own plunge pool. To the left of the foyer another stone path goes to the top floor of the two-story guest pavilion that has 2 bedrooms on this level. Also on the main level is a state of the art screening room with tiered seating for 12 in very comfy leather chairs.
Staircases from the living room and the guest pavilions lead to the lower level. At one end of the huge pool is a large palapa with sitting and dining areas. Adjacent to it is a wet bar, powder room and food prep area. Set back from the other end is the guest pavilion’s lower floor 4th bedroom, the Orange Suite. Its sitting room can double as a 5th bedroom and bath for a family member or nanny. Also on this level is a gym, which is on the other side of the house facing the driveway. Coccoloba is a truly beautiful house that lives like a 5 star hotel. There is almost no reason to leave the property!
